Twelve qualities of successful believers

The Islamic faith outlines twelve key qualities of successful believers, primarily found in Surahs Al-Mu'minun (The Believers) and Al-Furqan (The Criterion) of the Holy Qur'an. These qualities encompass both an individual's personal devotion and their social interactions.

The twelve qualities are:

Humility in Prayer: Believers approach their formal prayers (Salah) with ‘khushoo’ – complete solemnity, devotion, and submissiveness.

Avoidance of Vain Talk: They refrain from ‘laghw’, which includes dirty, false, evil, and all meaningless or idle talk and activities that distract from their purpose.

Purification of Wealth (Zakat): They actively pay the Zakat (alms) to purify their wealth and help the poor and needy.

Guarding Chastity: They strictly guard their private parts and maintain modesty, refraining from illegal sexual acts, except within the bounds Provided by Allah and His Messenger

Faithfulness to Trusts and Covenants: They are honest and faithfully true to their ‘Amanaat’ (trusts, duties, and responsibilities) and their covenants and promises.

Strict Observance of Prayers: They are protective over their five compulsory daily prayers, ensuring they are performed at their fixed, stated hours without delay.

Humble Conduct: In their daily lives, they walk on the earth humbly and do not act arrogantly or boastfully.

Peaceful Response to Ignorance: When addressed by ignorant people or faced with abuse, they respond with peaceful words and dignity, avoiding disputes.

Worship at Night: They dedicate a portion of their nights to the worship of Allah, seeking refuge from Hellfire.

Moderate Spending: They are neither extravagant nor miserly, but maintain a just and moderate way of spending their wealth.

Avoidance of Major Sins: They do not invoke any other deity besides Allah, nor kill any person unlawfully, nor commit adultery.

Bearing Witness to  The Truth: They do not become witness to falsehood and uphold justice, even if it is against themselves or their kin.

These qualities, when practiced consistently, are described as the path to inheriting the highest level of Paradise (Al-Firdaus) and dwelling there forever.
